Brilliant Watercolours Designer Series are highly pigmented, with aniline ink intensity for rich and vibrant colours. They are favoured by professional artists, graphic designers, fashion designers, industrial engineers and illustrators. The lid doubles as a palette, making it the perfect field kit. There are three designer palettes available: The Tropics, Miami Beach and Hotel Pool.
Our Designer Series feature vibrant and impactful photographs exclusively licensed by internationally renowned photographer, George Byrne. Each box also includes the individual RGB colours that link the unique offline and digital concept of the range.
About the Artist
George Byrne creates large-scale photographs that depict everyday surfaces and landscapes as painterly abstractions. Borrowing from the clean, vivid clarity of modernist painting, he also references the New Topographics photography movement via a subject matter firmly entrenched in the urban everyday.
I bought the three sets that make up the designer series. The colours are vibrant, well pigmented and have a great consistency. BUT - the cobalt in ‘The Tropics’ looks like no other cobalt I’ve seen. It is closer to the cerulean from ‘The Hotel Pool.’ It’s a mystery and a bit annoying because a real cobalt blue would be perfect with these sets.
I’ve had my nephews on the paints this week and they love them!

I was blown away by these watercolours. I did a colour chart as soon as I got them and am glad I did. I now know the incredible range of colours that can be achieved from just 6 options (there are 6 colours per set). The price point is very reasonable too!
I love my Brilliant Watercolours designer series. The paint is great quality (I wish I had tried them years ago rather than other disk brands which were hopeless), strong pigment, fabulous colours that mix and blend well and respond to water levels added to create graduations and washes fabulously. I would recommend them to beginners as you will be won over, not put off watercolours by inferior paint in some other brands. And an Australian company!
